Ok, let’s be honest, we can’t all be Alicia Keys. We can’t all look like her either. The good news is — you CAN achieve a similar look to her chic loose curly fro look using a few tried and true TGIN products and some go-to natural hair styling tools.

Of all the many great aspects of natural hair, one of our favorites is versatility. So go ahead and rock whatever kind of curly look you choose! Because chances are, there’s a way to style your hair to get there. There’s not much a curl can’t do! If your hair is naturally more limp and wavy, this look will add super volume, texture, and bounce. If your hair is very thick, coily and kinky, this look will smooth your texture a bit giving you added shine, manageability, and bounce. It’s a win win.

Tutorial:

1. Cleanse the build up: Wash and condition your natural hair using TGIN Moisture Rich Sulfate Free Shampoo and Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner. If your hair is extra thirsty, massage a generous dollop TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask into your hair concentrating on your ends. Leave in for at least 5 minutes for an effective and noticeable moisture boost.

2. Detangle + heat protect: Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, pump 1-3 pumps of TGIN Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum into your palms and distribute evenly throughout your hair. Detangle with a wide tooth comb or denman brush gently to work in the oil evenly.

3. Blow out: Using a blow dryer and comb attachment, blow out your natural hair until it is as smooth as possible. Work in sections. Before blow drying, you can also spritz on a light amount of your favorite heat protectant. *Do NOT blow dry your hair in the same room you just showered/washed your hair! The humidity will kill your style.

4. Curl:  Before installing curlers, apply a small amount of TGIN Twist and Define Cream for Natural Hair in sections — this will help lock in the curls. Use small to medium size standard curlers OR curl rods. Depending on the thickness of your hair, you will likely need somewhere around 30 rollers.

5. Set + style: Let the curlers set overnight, or for an hour under a hooded dryer. When they are completely set, gently rremove the curlers. To avoid friz, rub in some more TGIN Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum into your fingertips. Separate each curl into a few smaller curls. If shrinkage is too short for your taste, gently stretch your hair by tugging at the curls and blow drying at the roots with a concentrator nozzle until you get the desired look!

What is your styling method for a big chunky loose curly afro?
