Mother of daughter featured in Anti-Aborition ad sues for Defamation

By May 3, 2011tgin + news

Back in February, Thank God I’m Natural broke the news to you of an African-American girl featured on a anti-abortion billboard in downtown New York City.

The little girl, who was 4 years old at the time, wore a red dress and was pictured under words that read ‘The most dangerous place for an African-American is in the womb.’

The billboard ignited a storm of controversy from both the left and right-wing, which forced the advertising company, Lamar Advertising, to take down the billboard.

Well the mother of  little Anissa, Tricia Fraser, filled a defamation lawsuit against the company, according to

Fraser was quoted back in February to have never supported the company or the advertisement.

“I would never endorse something like that. Especially with my child’s image,”  Fraser said of her now 6-year-old daughter.
Lamar Advertising had every legal right to use the photo because Fraser signed Anissa up to participate in  childhood modeling. However, Fraser was unaware her daughter’s photo would end up on that particular billboard two years after the initial picture was taken.
A judge will later decide if the billboard was in fact defamatory.
But before a judge makes his or her final ruling, what do you think? Do you think Fraser has a case or is she just wasting her time?
